Because Disney Infinity provides a helpful quest compass system for all missions, directions to quest objectives are unnecessary. For this reason, the aim of this walkthrough is to help players achieve as many feats as possible during a playthrough. Feats will be noted with an asterisk (*) and written in title case, like so *Name of Some Feat.
This playset will not assume players have every character, but it will provide detail for how to unlock feats for specific characters and recommend certain characters as optimal for some situations.
Finally, this walkthrough assumes users are playing on the Extreme difficulty. The instructions here will thus be applicable for any difficulty, as the strategies discussed here will help players beat the game on the hardest possible difficulty.
Nova: (Flight) – Nova is a ranged brawler who can charge his ranged attacks for added damage but has relatively weak melee attacks.
Fully upgrading Nova’s special attack, an AOE stun and damage attack, also boosts Nova with an enormous heal. If you grab enough enemies, you can get a full lifebar heal from a single usage of this attack.
Spider-man: (Super Jump/Wall Crawl/Web Swing) – Spider-man is a balanced ranged/melee character with the ability to web up (effectively stunning) many opponents. Spider-man’s special attack is an AoE attack that will web all nearby enemies, and he can upgrade his ranged web attack to stun enemies for much longer than Venom.
Spider-man’s Spider Sense upgrade will allow him to detect bonus boxes and crossover coins on the minimap.
Venom: (Super Jump/Wall Crawl/Maximum Strength/Web Swing) – Venom is the most powerful, most versatile character in the Spider-man playset. Due to his many special abilities, Venom can collect all but flight boxes while wandering around the city. His melee attacks are also the strongest in the game, especially once upgraded.
While his web swinging is initially worse than Spider-man’s, it becomes as good through upgrades. Venom can also get regenerating health, making him the go-to character for Skycycle missions. Lastly, like Spider-man, Venom can get Venom Sense, which reveals bonus boxes and crossover coins on the map.
Nick Fury: (Tech) – Nick Fury is a relatively weak ranged character who plays similarly to Black Widow. With upgrades, his ranged attack is full auto, but it only gets 12 shots before having to reload. Melee attacks are average strength, and Fury must upgrade his personal shields to go into the melee tree.
Life Model Decoy is an effective diversion for certain missions, and after getting the Armed upgrade, can even become a very effective offensive special attack.
Iron Fist: This section will be filled in later.
Iron Man: (Flight/Tech) – Iron Man is a ranged-focused character with strong melee attacks. Through upgrade, you can activate a deployable mine, and the powerful repulsor blossom ability. You can also upgrade to be able to charge his ranged attack so that it’s much more powerful.
Iron Man’s special attack, fully upgraded, is one of the best for certain situations, but it has the drawback that you must be roughly facing the group of enemies on which you’re using it, or most or all of the missiles can miss.
Hulk: (Wall Crawl/Strength) – This section will be filled in later.
Refer to the Avengers Playset Walkthrough for a thorough discussion of the combat in Disney Infinity.
Dark Days Ahead – White Tiger
Follow the on-screen prompts which serve as a tutorial and progress toward Mysterio.
In the room with the mirror, hit Mysterio where you can see his reflection in the mirror.
Trapped Like Sardines – White Tiger
Rescue the trapped scientists. Follow the continuing on-screen prompts to move energy cells, kill symbiotes, and rescue scientists.
If you do this and Dark Days Ahead with two players, unlock *Two to Tango.
After Trapped Like Sardines:
You’re now free to explore Manhattan to get all bonus boxes, crossover coins, et cetera, but you’ll want to wait until you can upgrade to Spider Sense or Venom sense, because these make the search vastly quicker.
At this time, if you have Nova, switch to him and fly under the two main bridges to get *Bridge Spotter. Then fly to the top of the Statue of Liberty to get *Liberty’s Landing.
Now, you can either stay Nova to build skill points for *Double Trouble, switch to Spider-man or Venom to start progress on *Climb the Walls, or switch to Iron Fist and start building skill points for *Back Off! or *The Ultimate Weapon.
If playing as Spider-man, you’ll want to save all your skill points until you can max his speed, to get *Spider Speed.
From Tiger to Cage – White Tiger
Find Luke Cage. Move to the quest objective to meet Luke Cage.
Unfriendly Neighborhood – Luke Cage
Clear the neighborhood of symbiotes. Unlocks the symbiote grunt after the first group.
The first group is nice and slow, so you can use Iron Fist here to get *Back Off!
The third group is all symbiote swarmers, so use a well timed ground pound or a special move to get *Swarmer Sweep.
After this mission, you’ll unlock the SHIELD Hover car, which will help Nick Fury, Iron Fist, and Hulk get around without flight or web swinging.
Interrupted Upload – White Tiger
Upload data to SHIELD. Enter the lab.
Take the hovercar to the lab, then fight symbiotes at the entrance before entering.
Inside, kill the symbiotes, then place the power cell on the door to the left.
Enter that door, then break the grate, kill the symbiotes, and grab the new power cell. Ride the elevator and put this cell on the right pad, activating the elevator by the entrance. Hop down, grab the middle power cell, and go back to the entrance.
In the main room, put this new power cell near the door on the right.
In this new room, use the tech terminal or avoid the red tiles with double jump, super jump, flight, or web swing. In the next room, again use the tech terminal or avoid the red tiles to get to the far side of the room with the ledge hangs. Go through the corner door, up, and break the grate, then make your way to the opposite side of the room on the upper level.
Once here, proceed until you find another tech terminal, then either use it or avoid the red tiles, then make the missile launchers break free the last power cell and deactivate themselves. Bring this cell back to the main room and place the three cells around the central computer console.
Core defense can be tricky on extreme. I used Nick Fury with a Life Model Decoy with the Armed upgrade to deal with one side of the room. Focus on sticking close to the center and moving around the core, letting your ranged attack’s auto-aim do the work for you to interrupt the various symbiotes.
Finishing this mission will unlock Black Cat.
Sweet and Sewer – Black Cat
Assist the SHIELD agents in the sewer.
Upon acquiring this mission, unlock *Mission Master.
Kill the symbiotes, then enter the sewer. Here, you can use the sonic gun to kill most everything in a single hit. You will also need it to clear many obstacles, like symbiote sludge. Keep the sonic charged by frequently returning to charging stations, and you should be fine for this mission.
When you complete it, you’ll unlock the tendriled symbiote.
Target the Traitor – Luke Cage
Activate the SHIELD tracking array to find and follow the suspect.
Fly or carry the SHIELD agent to the quest objective. Use Spider-man or Venom to unlock *Webs Away. Let the scientist turn on the first tower, then do the same for the other two, where you’ll have to defend.
On the third tower, the control panel is above the tower platform, so make sure to be below early. Then go to Luke Cage and do the car chase. Follow the car to the pier and get a cutscene.
Then meet the large symbiote. Kill all the symbiotes and enter the sewer. Using Venom against the large symbiote will allow you to get *Venomous Combo.
Sewer Search – Black Cat
Find out what the suspicious person is doing in the sewers. Enter the sewer.
Break the goo, push the button, then drop down. Lower the water level, kill the symbiotes, and place the sonic gun on the third plank. Raise the water, and make your way to the rafting section. Defend the raft with your sonic gun, then jump off and get the cutscene. Kill the symbiotes, then enter the next room and fly, jump, or platform your way up to the top, then ground pound one of the three panels.
Green Goblin Boss Fight #1
Watch the goblin turret and wait for it to line up with one of the three panels, then smash it. Grab the downed droid, and throw it at Green Goblin. Avoid the bombs and symbiotes, then do it again. Rinse and repeat once more to get your victory cutscene.
*Subterranean Schemes, *Gross Misconduct
Earn Your Wings – Luke Cage
Complete the SHIELD airborne training course.
Fly through or shoot the target orbs. Then kill the symbiotes and turrets to unlock the skycycle. If you’ve killed enough turrets by now, you should get *Clear the Skies.
Escapee Escort – White Tiger
Escort the Oscorp scientist out of the city. Follow the vehicles and defeat the symbiotes. Break the pipes first to keep more symbiotes from spawning. *How the Mighty Have Fallen should activate on this mission.
There will be health and special move capsules at the base of the building after the vehicle portion.
Follow the quest objective to the helicopter and defend until the Statue of Liberty.
Then Black Cat will contact you.
The Cat’s out of the Bag – Black Cat
Rescue Black Cat from the Venom symbiote infested sewer.
In the sewer, climb the pipe in the second room to find the sonic gun.
In the next room, bring the sonic up the two elevators.
In Black Cat’s room, break the three slimes holding her cage to learn it was Green Goblin all along!
Mysterio’s Hideaway – Luke Cage
Use the SHIELD tracking array to reveal Mysterio’s Hideout.
Carry the scientists to the consoles and defend the arrays three times.
Always break the pipes first, then kill the symbiotes. More pipes will spawn, but this will keep more symbiotes from spawning at the old pipes.
Illusions of Grandeur – White Tiger
Find Mysterio. Enter the lab.
Kill the drones outside Oscorp Tower with a skycycle or a flight character, then enter the lab.
Mysterio Boss Fight
When you enter the building, you’ll be introduced to the puzzle cube, which is the bread and butter of this boss fight.
Punch the puzzle cube on a particular side and the color/shape combination for that side will become “open” anywhere in the level. Punch again to close. The boss fight here is pretty straightforward. Solve the puzzle on the left, fight some enemies, then solve the puzzle on the right. Between each phase, you’ll be returned to the starting room. If you go through one of the doors with no barrier,
you’ll end up in a bonus room
where you can get sparks, XP, or enemy spawns. Be careful, because with triple enemy spawns, these rooms can be more dangerous than helpful!
After the fight, White Tiger will unlock, and you will get the *Dispelled Illusions feat. Now, Luke Cage will be at the top of Oscorp tower, ready for you to start the last mission.
Green Goblin’s Green Gauntlet – Luke Cage
Defeat Green Goblin.
Green Goblin Boss Fight #2
Shoot the turrets around Green Goblin to crash them into his shield, then shoot Green Goblin as much as you can. Avoid the explosions with your barrel roll. It will take a few waves of this to down the Goblin, but there’s no time limit.
After you win, you’ll get *High and Mighty and unlock Luke Cage.
The crossover coins for Hulk and Iron Man are unambiguously the easiest crossover coins to find in all of Disney Infinity. As soon as you finish the intro sequence, you’ll be dropped in Marvel’s Manhattan, standing next to White Tiger.
The building to your immediate right will have a pipe climb leading up to the first of Hulk’s coins.
After you’ve found the last Hulk crossover coin, look off the edge of the building you’re standing on, in the direction of the jump boost. You’ll notice a few Iron Man coins ascending up the side of the distant building along the scaffolding.
Jump off the building and head over that direction to find Iron Man’s crossover coins.
