You may have noticed some boxes that look like treasure chests scattered throughout Disney Infinity in the Toy Box or Play Set areas.  These are called Character Chests and they each contain a special item related to that character.  Each Character Chest can only be opened by the character that matches the chest.  If you have the wrong character, a message will come up saying you need to have the correct one to open the chest.
Usually the first matching Character Chest will unlock a costume version of that character.  Costume versions of the characters are smaller automated or NPC variants of each character.  They can be seen wandering around as Toy Box Townspeople or sometimes as Play Set Townspeople.
Most of the main Disney Infinity characters have three Character Chests that can be found in the Toy Box or Play Sets.  The first Character Chest usually contains a costume while the remaining two chests can contain special items or powers unique to that character.
I’ll be posting a more detailed guide for where to find all of the Character Chests for each different character in their Play Set.  I’ll also cover the Avatar Vaults for each Play Set!
