Theme Disc Skydome - The King’s Domain
Music – “The Circle Of Lifeâ€Â, the opening song from the 1994 animated classic is featured heavily in the first of the Lion King Theme Power Discs. Right from the disc being activted you are greeted with the iconic “NANTS INGOYAMA BAGHITI BABA!†Which translates to “Here Comes A Lion, Father.†It takes a much of the chorus of the song and remixes it into a steady and un-intrusive version of the song, a perfect undertone for any toy box. A rhythmic african chanting of “Siyo Nqoba Ingonyama, Ingoyama negw’ enamabala†fill the quiet parts, while section of the dome’s sound track gradually climb to the song’s rousing finale, the deep heavy thump of a drum.
Dome – The Dome’s 360 surround drops right into the african Savannah. The long flat land stretches out as far as you can see, distance rock formations are seen, partly shrouded by clouds. One side of the dome shows Rafiki’s large Baobab Tree, or the Tree of Life. It’s tucked between the large watering hole and the deep gorge where we saw the stampede of wildebeest.
Not to be missed of course is Pride Rock, home of the lions and featured prominently in the films opening and climax. Beyond the tall peak you can barely make out the elephant grave yard, the dark and shadowy land the light doesn’t touch.
Ground – The floor of the sky dome shows the grassy, dried and cracked ground and river beds, between the flood of water.
Theme Disc Texture – Simba’s Pride Land
Flat Terrain – The flat texture resembles a patch quilt medley of soft earthy browns and greens. A few small lion prints can be seen on pieces of the quilt, and from a distance the pattern and colors resemble the long rolling fields of the african plains, grassy and dry.
Side Terrain – The side of the terrain becomes a simple beige stone, similar color and texture as the stone Pride Rock is made of.
Fantasy Terrain 1 – A tall tree, resembling the real world Acacia Tree sits with multiple canopies, tucked beneath it’s shade is a bright gathering of tall leafs, pink and green, accented with small purple flowers on vines.
Fantasy Terrain 2 – A small pile of the flat rocks, surrounded by several sprouts of green grass.
Fantasy Terrain 3 – This giant Baobabs tree towers high above the rest, topped with several canopies. The large bark of this tree is accented with light tribal markings. The tall thick tree bears a close resemblance to Rafiki’s tree in the film.
Fantasy Terrain 4 – Another Acacia Tree, this one a bit taller with several heights of canopies.
Fantasy Terrain 5 – A tall gathering of multi colored leafs and flowers. Several tall wide fan like bushes are the main focus of this terrain piece. These large fan like bushes can be seen during the “I Can’t Wait To Be King†musical number.
Fantasy Strip 1 – A sideways winding / growing tree, ending with a several leafy canopies, the other end of the strip is accented with a short bush.
Fantasy Strip 2 – One end of this strip is more of the tall, wide fan leafs seen in “I Just Cant Wait To Be Kingâ€Â, while the other end is a short little rock, both ends are littered with small colorful leafs sticking out of the ground.
Fantasy Corner 1 – A large patch of grassy texture tops a lifted rock face, with several different layers and steps. The grass patchy texture is accented with Rafiki’s baby Simba drawling.
Fantasy Corner 2 – A thick stack of three layers of rock make a wide corner, accented with a little grass, this corner piece is primarily a large hunk of stone.
