Marvel Battlegrounds debuted as the new playset for Disney Infinity 3.0 and was met with mixed reactions from the community. Fans almost immediately took to social media and began hammering the creative team with questions and opinions.
We put together a quick FAQ for a lot of the questions we are seeing pop up surrounding Battlegrounds.

Q: When is Marvel Battlegrounds coming out?
A: March 15th, 2016
Q: How much will Marvel Battlegrounds Cost?
A: Originally the playset hit retailers with a price of $29.99, but was later reduced to $19.99. Some retailers still have it listed at a suggested retail of $29.99 with the price discounted, while others have dropped the price entirely. Some retailers like Gamestop have the price listed at $34.99.
Q: Will I need an internet connection to play Battlegrounds?
A: Yes, your game will need to be patched to add all the data for the new playset and figures!
Q: Is there a single player campaign?
A: Yes, the playset follows a story of Loki & Ultron trying to destroy the earth.
Q: Does Marvel Battlegrounds have Multiplayer?
A: Yes! There is a four player local co-op multiplayer!
Q: How will four people be able to play? Will we need two bases?
A: No, you will only need one base. You will load the characters into the game pre-match.
Q: Will Marvel Battlegrounds have Online Multiplayer?
A: No, at this time there is no planned online multiplayer.
Q: Will I be able to battle against AI?
A: Yes, Jeff Bunker has gone on record with the Examiner in an article: “The A.I. we have is very compelling,” Bunker said. “I think our fans are going to get a kick out of it.”
Q: What figures will work with Battlegrounds?
A: Every released Marvel figure to date from 2.0 & 3.0.
Q: What 2.0 Marvel figures should I get?
A: Any figure you want to play with in the game! All the characters will be balanced and equal competitors.
Q: What if I can’t get a hold of old characters? Will I ever be able to play with them in game?
A: Disney has announced trial characters will be introduced similar to how you can try out characters in the mobile / pc version of the game.
Q: Are there any improvements to the old 2.0 Marvel characters?
A: Characters have been newly balanced to make for a more equal play field during battles. All new animations have also been added for each of the character’s special moves.
Q: What characters are being released with Marvel Battlegrounds?
A: So far, based on several leaks across many retailers, we will see Black Panther, Ant-Man, Vision & Black Suit Spiderman.
Q: Why are there no females in the Marvel Battlegrounds line up?
A: There hasn’t been an official announcement of the Marvel Battlegrounds line up yet.
Q: The leak didn’t show any female characters, will there be female characters in Marvel Battlegrounds?
A: An information leak is just that, a leak. Wait for an official announcement from Disney Infinity and reserve judgement until we get all the info!
Q: Why does this playset come with only one figure?
A: There are likely several answers to this question but with limited shelf space in retailers and the diversity of figures compatible with this playset, Infinity decided to only include one. John Vignocchi said in a released statement that it was in response to the community wanting more choice on what figures they purchased.
Players can also get a free 2.0 figure with the preorder of the Marvel Battlegrounds play set at participating retailers.
Q: What kind of gameplay does Marvel Battlegrounds bring to Disney Infinity 3.0?
A: Marvel Battlegrounds offers up a new and unique type of gameplay with four player head to head combat in an arena type map.
Q: Will there be a Marvel Battlegrounds Power Disc Pack?
A: Yes! We’ve already seen it leak! It features three attack (round) discs and a hexagonal Ghost Rider’s Bike vehicle disc!
Q: Will I be able to use my 2.0 power discs in Marvel Battlegrounds?
A: Hexagonal discs won’t have any effect in playset but all the round power discs have been remastered and are compatible with Battlegrounds.
Q: How many power discs can I use during each match?
A: The game will allow you to upload up to six power discs pre-match to use in battle!
Q: What if I don’t have all the power discs? Will I miss out on some of the gameplay?
A: No! The game will randomly drop power discs into the play area for you to gather and use in battle!
Q: Will I be able to use my 2.0 Marvel Playsets in 3.0?
A: No, playset pieces are not forward compatible and can only be used in the version they are released in. You can use put your 2.0 playset pieces on the portal in the Toy Box to unlock all the toys and content for in game building!
Q: How many levels or maps will there be in Marvel Battlegrounds?
A: The description of the game details 12 levels over 8 separate arenas. This means there will be 8 “worlds” (Shipyard, Wakanda, Lunar Base, ect.) and 12 levels (certain worlds have multiple levels that you move through during gameplay).
Q: Is the Captain America that comes with Marvel Battlegrounds the same as the 2.0 Captain America?
A: No! This version of Captain America is being referred to in the community as “First Avenger” Captain America due to his visual similarity to Chris Evans. He has a new moveset and new animations. We don’t even know all the details yet about this new figure, but rest assured, he’s more than a simple repose.
Q: When will we learn more about Marvel Battlegrounds?
