3.0 Toy Dispenser
The Disney Infinity 3.0 Toy Box is packed with new features and exciting building options, with one of those being the Toy Dispenser toy. The Toy Dispenser has gone through several changes during it’s development and was an idea that spanned back to Disney Infinity 1.0’s Toy Box but didn’t make the cut during production.
The Toy Dispenser can be found under the “Instant Fun” section of the Toy Box build menu. It’s design is a tall structure with four colorful sides, each side delivers an endless supply of small toy capsules that when tossed into the Toy Box playing area crack open to surprise you with a randomly chosen toy.
Each side of the tall dispenser has a simple pixelated screen that shows a queue of three capsule question mark icons. Activate the small button on any particular side of the dispenser and the capsule icons will drop down and a toy capsule will appear. Toss that small capsule into your toy box and enjoy the randomly chosen object.
One of the Toy Box Designers from Avalanche made sure to point out to me that the random toys dispensed are not limited to the ones you’ve unlocked, so any toy from the entire expansive Toy Box library may appear.
Toy Dispenser Sides
Here is a peek at the four sides of the Toy Dispenser and what we encountered when playing around with this new toy.
Enemies
This side of the dispenser will chose a random enemy for you to do battle with. When we activated this side we ended up with a random turret and a Chitauri guard to do battle with.
Vehicles
Hit this side to get a randomly chosen vehicle, including mounts, cars, fliers, ect… When triggering this side we were given a motorcycle and a Lightcycle.
Build Outs & Themes
This side of the dispenser is a bit more of a gamble when triggering, it can pull anything related to toy box building, including themes, skydomes, smart building townspersons, set pieces, ect… When we triggered we were immediately greeted by the Logic Builder and Devil Dino theme.
General Play
The final side features random fun interactive toys that won’t try to kill you, sort of the opposite of the enemies side. Trigger this dispenser and get a fun collection of all sorts of cast members, sidekicks, townsperson, instant fun toys, ect… When we triggered this side we got a Captain Marvel cast member, giant ESPN football, Luigi Townsperson, Monster’s University’s Art & a huge castle platforming piece.

Is It Useful?
After a bit of playing with the Toy Dispenser I was really curious about just what this new Instant Fun toy is good for. We don’t see much use for it with Toy Box Artists and their masterful creations, the randomization of the Toys is too much of a risk for most of the cohesive story lines they craft. Even the Toy Box Mentors didn’t have any immediate great ideas for how to put the Toy Dispenser to good use.
The one thing this new toy is good for is FUN. Infinity team members say that dropping one of these Toy Dispensers inside a large open toy box and giving a group of kids the controllers lead to endless fun for them. The endless random generation of all sorts of toys, enemies, vehicles, ect. made for an long fun play sessions.
At the end of the day, if you aren’t dropping one of these in a toy box for quick and easy entertainment, then perhaps you can use it to help solve any sort of “builder’s block” or to remind you of all the amazing toys inside Toy Box.
We look forward to getting some more play time with this unique and interesting toy.
